This is where actual updates would go, but no one wants to hear me whine. I don't even want to hear me whine.

Instead, have some holiday goodness. We're up and running again and ready for wishes. Come play!

We interrupt the complete silence on this journal to let you know that I survived the STORM OF DOOM hurricane tropical storm weather in one piece. Will probably have to talk to the Super about the waterlogged ceiling, but at least only the window dripped. Could be worse.

And now back to having absolutely nothing to say.

I keep telling myself that I'm going to post more, but I think it's pretty obvious that it hasn't happened. I just can't ever think of anything to write. What can I say, I'm a boring person.

But I am still here, I am still reading, and I do still think that you all are some of the most amazing people I've ever had the chance to meet.

It's been a weird year, and I'm not terribly sorry to see it go. I know it's been the same for a lot of people. But it's almost over. So now I wish everyone an unrestrainedly awesome New Year and may the next year be a million times better than this one was.

Someday there will be actual content in this journal again. Today is not that day. Meanwhile, there is this.

So. That Wincon thing.

Getting to play around in Chicago? Awesome. Getting to see/hang out with/drape all over/give many hugs to fabulous people? Incredibly awesome. Getting disgustingly sick and losing my entire damn voice again? NOT AWESOME. The very opposite of awesome. What the hell universe, seriously? Again? My Batman impersonations are just not that good, I promise.

So yes, once again there are whole swaths of the weekend that I just do not remember. If I didn't have time to do more than croak in your general direction and wander vaguely off, I'm sorry.

That said, it was still a wonderful time and a huge thank you to all the Con people who worked to make it so. Never enough time to hang out with all the people I want to, but that's always the case. And then there was the tea and the hugs and the dolphins being inappropriate and sprinklering and glitter everywhere and cranky bar-people and even more tea. And you <3.

And next year I am keeping myself in a sanitized bubble for the entire month before I travel. Just you watch.

Many thank yous to many lovely people for the messages, cards, well-wishes etc. If I managed to miss you somehow, thank you too.

Uneventful weekend was uneventful. Actual birthday was mostly spent sitting on parent's couch watching Top Gear, which was completely fine by me (damn my cable company's lack of BBC America *ragefists*). And then Sunday was spent clearing out my closet/drawers/etc, in which I somehow managed to have not a whole lot of stuff and too much stuff at the same time. I'm special.

And then I finally got around to watching Sherlock, which has been sitting on my hard drive for a few weeks now and...okay. I'm kind of in love with it. My mother practically threatened me with bodily harm if I didn't immediately download the rest, so safe to say it was enjoyed immensely. Is there more of it coming? Like, now?

Now I just have to convince myself that I don't actually have to hunt down fic for it. I really don't. Really.

Hello, I'm not dead. I am, however, boring which I suppose is almost as bad. No really, nothing interesting going on. I'm even failing rather epically at Summer fandoms, since I apparently go more for old, hilariously terrible TV shows than anything shiny and new. Alas. I will never win at the internets.

On the other hand, everything for Wincon is finally booked and settled. \o/ Should be an awesome time. Provided I can take care of the million and a half things I should really get done first, of course. It's good incentive.

Meanwhile, my friends are awesome, cupcakes are delicious even when they don't turn out blue, Wii swordfighting is exhausting, CMM has brought shame upon our family (repeatedly) and Under the Red Hood is a lot of fun (and stunningly bitchy. I approve).

Thus concludes this life update. You may sit down now.

J2 Cyberpunk AU; Three years ago, Christian Kane betrayed Jared Padalecki and killed most of his family. Mercenary Jensen Ackles saved him and his younger sister Megan and brought them to live with his family out in the wilds of Texas. Since then, Jared's been training and now, is finally ready to take Kane on to win back his family's corporate empire. However, the course of true love never runs smoothly and in regaining what he lost, he's put everything he loves in jeopardy, including his partner and lover, Jensen. A J2 Romance in a Cyberpunk setting.

The first time Jensen Ackles had been determined to quit the sport and walk away from bullriding, life had presented him with Jared Padalecki. The second time he'd tried, life had just gone wrong. So he'd gotten smart and quit, inside-out, figured whoever kept score of these things wouldn't be the wiser.

Which just doesn't fair explain how he'd been roped into taking a team to Dallas--complete with cranky riders, job politics, family obligations, and all with Jared at his side--to compete in an inaugural event the PBR brass are certain he'll win.

Just because I'm starting to see more and more of this.

Dear creative people,

Writing in a bit of meta dialogue about how your premise is clichéd or your writing is bad does not excuse you from having a clichéd premise or bad writing. It just means you're aware of it.

Something to think about.

Love,
me

So. This weekend.

[info]thesleepingkat came up to crash on my couch and generally be lovely. Thusly did we mange to:

-Go see that movie about a Man and Iron with a bunch of people I was sadly forced to sit with. And of course, none of them got there ridiculously early so we were at the very head of the line. The movie itself, of course, was not good either )

Not to mention the epic hilarity before the movie even started, wherein the entire theater groaned out loud at the Twilight preview. A+, audience.

-Make red velvet cupcakes. From scratch. That actually turned out amazingly well. And I still have a fridge full of them. Yes, I am smug. Seriously, look: )

And THEN, I found out that I am apparently doing Big Bang art for some chick who writes about bulldogs and beer, or something. What's that about? Everyone knows you can't write sequels for Big Bang. It's just not on. She's probably overrated, too.

And then my flist exploded. I'm pretty sure everything I might say has been said, and no one really needs yet another opinion on it anyway. I will simply say that Wincon is awesome, and everyone involved with it, con committee or people who just turn up to be dorky fangirls, are awesome, and my flist is awesome. Especially you.

It has been A Week for me, what with the possible food poisoning on Monday, followed by serious problems with vertigo and a complete lack of balance (confirmed ear infection by doc). Which generally means that I've spent the week running into walls every time I try to walk somewhere.

However. There was this show on last night, that I watch sometimes? Let's talk about that instead. spoilers walk into walls too )

It has been pointed out to me by people, in their characteristically subtle ways, that I have not been posting much. Let's see what we can do about that.

My head hurts, my foot hurts, I'm bored and I'm fairly sure that whatever creativity I had in my brain has long since fled.

There, isn't that better?

The foot issue, at least, I know the exact cause and general solution to. As much as I enjoy the walk-in-circles-and-bitch sessions with a certain [info]not-droovzilla I seem to be incapable of not hurting myself during them. The last time this happened, I solved it by catching the flu and staying in bed for two days. As helpful as that was, perhaps I will attempt a slightly different method this time.

The boredom is slightly more difficult, although it is a much funnier story. You see, during my work evaluation (which is a story in itself) I got minorly scolded for my habit of watching Let's Plays (for the curious- videos of people playing video games). Not because I was watching things at work, oh no. But because from a distance, it apparently looks like I am actually playing the game. Despite them being on Youtube. And me doing my work on a completely different computer. I am just that magical, I guess. Nevermind the amount of idiocy it would require to be playing Resident Evil 4 at work.

Add to that, some jerk took down all the Youtube videos of Batman Beyond I was watching. So now I have to go back to my previous work habits- reading fanfic all day. Clearly, a stunning victory for everyone involved.

For the rest of it, I'll just have to complain a lot. Possibly by posting, or something. Aren't you all lucky?
